ALL NATURAL BEEF, PORK AND CHICKEN
Agriculture is our main focus at Horsmon Farm. Do your students realize where their food, fiber and everyday items come from… Where do apples or your clothes come from? (The store is the usual response) But what about before that? There is a separation from farm to table in today’s world. Knowing where your food truly comes from will help students understand the importance of farms and environmental conservation.
We will have a short, hands-on lesson with your students. The kids will get to visit our farm animals and pet some too. An Ag-educational hayride will take the students through the environmental protecting aspects farmers use to keep our estuaries healthy.
We can also CUSTOMIZE your trip to focus on the curriculum you are teaching. Just let us know what topic fits your lesson.
The cost of the trip is $6 per person and that includes a mini pumpkin. You can upgrade to $7/per person for a larger pumpkin for the kids and pick from the Pumpkin Patch. You are welcome to pack a picnic lunch and bring a blanket to eat on the grass.
We have a TALL Grass Maze. This grass does double-duty here, because we also use this to feed the cattle. Our maze is smaller and simply designed YOU or the kids will not truly get lost. I know those giant mazes can seem scary even for adults.
Most school trips will be private events. We make every attempt not to book another school during the same time. Daycares may be booked with another daycares. Any day Calvert County Public Schools are closed we will be open to the public all day and will not schedule private tours.
Tours are subject to weather and we will do our best to reschedule.
